FAQ for Courts and Probation
AMS provides electronic home monitoring (EHM) and alcohol monitoring solutions. Our services include GPS bracelets (ankle or wrist) and continuous transdermal alcohol monitoring devices. We support pre-trial defendants, probationers, and individuals sentenced to community-based alternatives.
In most cases, defendants can be set up in 1-3 business days.
We align our monitoring protocols directly with the specific conditions ordered by a court or probation officer, including restrictions on movement, curfews, geographic exclusion zones, and alcohol abstinence. Compliance reports are available as requested, and violations are reported promptly.
GPS Monitoring devices transmit location data over cellular networks to our system. Our device offers up to 3 days of battery life under normal usage conditions. The system supports ‘geofences’ or inclusion/exclusion zones. When a client enters or exits these zones, alerts are triggered. The supervision platform integrates mapping tools to visualize client movement in geographic context.
Location data and alerts flow into American’s monitoring platform, where supervising officers can view, filter, map, and analyze client movement and compliance.
Alcohol Monitoring devices continuously sample the wearer’s perspiration for traces of ethanol (alcohol) about every 10 minutes. The device automatically transmits data for analysis and review, triggering alerts for violations. Users are notified instantly if their device detects alcohol.
Yes. All devices use biometric tamper-detection features for removal alerts. Any tampering attempts trigger notifications to our compliance team. GPS monitors have an additional tamper-evident security tag checked by live video at installation and removal.
Violations—including removal, entry into prohibited areas, or positive alcohol readings—are documented and reported within 24 hours to the supervising authority by email.
Devices report location or alcohol data at regular intervals throughout the day.
Yes. Our monitoring platform is active 24/7 and human supervisors work during the day and night. Violations may be reported on the next business day.
We provide customized reporting for enrollment and completion. Additional reports are provided on an as-needed basis. Reports can be delivered via secure email, or login access to our new, coming soon, Compliance Dashboard.
Yes. Officers may request curfews, geographic zones, or exclusion areas. These conditions are programmed into the monitoring device and enforced automatically. Officers can request specific location data at any specific time.
Yes. Our compliance team can provide affidavits, declarations, or live video testimony regarding device data, violations, and monitoring history.
